Iki mo Dekinai Natsu ends its run with a fizzle. Rei finally gets her family register and starts the procedures to study in France while Kiyama does some soul searching after Kataoka Asami lets him go.

Rei decides to distance herself from Kiyama who decides to make things official with Kataoka. Meanwhile, Ayukawa reappears and the DNA test is taken. The results threaten to destroy the Tanizaki family.

Not plot progression, no relationship progression. The Tanizaki children buck up to finish out their dreams before they move while Kiyama is stuck to his past unable to move forward even with Rei’s encouragement.

Just when the Tanizaki family thinks things can’t get worse, they are faced with bullying, getting fired, and a malicious new articles invading their private lives.

Ayukawa’s confession and Natsume’s accident send the Tanizaki family spinning. Rei is forced to take leave from work and Kiyama does his best to comfort the confused girl who has learned a dark secret. To make mattes worse, Nakatsu is writing an article about the Tanizaki family.
Rei decides to go to trial, but as things begin to crumble, she realizes that she cannot go through with it. Meanwhile, Rei gets two family surprises.
Rei is well on her way to creating her family register when she finally learns Ayukawa’s identity. She then decides to go to trial to keep her name off the Ayukawa register and protect her mother from her abusive ex-husband.
Rei meets Kusano and decides to become friends. Meanwhile, Yoko finally writes the statement just as Ayukawa figures out Rei’s true identity.
